Debra Lawrence originally signed onto Home And Away for the “financial security,” but she found so much more with her soulmate Dennis Coard.

Not long after her Summer Bay debut as Pippa Ross, the producers were on the hunt for a love interest for her character. After an incredible chemistry read, Dennis was cast as Michael Ross.

“I was just really drawn to him,” Debra recalled with TV WEEK. “They booked him. Apparently, the chemistry read was so strong.”

The timing couldn’t be more perfect for Debra who told Woman’s Day in 2011 that her “ovaries were yelling, ‘Hello!’.”

After six weeks of “being rude” to her new co-star, Debra could no longer deny the attraction. Flash forward eighteen months to February 29, 1992, Debra and Dennis said ‘I do’ in Avalon. But why get married on a leap day?

“It happened to be a Saturday between Friday studio and Monday rehearsal for Home and Away,’ Debra revealed in a comment on Instagram.

In the same year, the newlyweds welcomed their first child together, a girl named Grace Coard. A few years down the track in 1999, they were blessed with their second and final child, William.

In 2024, the couple celebrated 32 years together – technically only their eighth wedding anniversary. In celebration of the momentous day, Debra revealed their secret to a long, happy marriage.

“We appreciate and respect that we are individuals; we support each others wins and losses; we have shared the grief of the loss of parents, siblings, dear friends and the wee bubbas that were not meant to be,” she wrote.

“We have raised two extraordinary kids whom we love beyond measure. We are deeply grateful for our home and the beauty of the quiet bush that surrounds us. We are partners in every sense of the word – sometimes extremely disputatious, but all is always forgiven. (it helps hugely that we also still fancy the pants off each other – sorry kids ) ”

In celebration of 30 years together, Debra shared a tribute post to her beautiful husband.

“Dennis is the kindest, most generous person I know… a truly wonderful father… add hardworking, supportive, hilariously funny and extremely attractive and you start to see why we’ve managed to travel through the last 3 decades together. Happy Anniversary dearest Dennis. Much love and heartfelt thanks for agreeing to be the father of our two beautiful children,” she wrote.

Debra left the soap in 1998, but in a 2023 interview with TV Week she shared: “Home And Away gave me my life… And I sing that from the rooftops to anybody who wants to listen.”

“To the wondrous Dennis Coard, Happy 7th Leap Anniversary ( 28 years in UTC time – 10,227 days) You are an extraordinary human being and I’m so very, very glad I know you,” Debra wrote for their wedding anniversary.

They found love on the eighth season of The Bachelor Australia, now Irena Srbinovska and Locky Gilbert have started their own little family.

While dating reality television shows rarely produce successful romantic connections, Irena and Locky defied all odds. Their connection is undeniable!

But their relationship hasn’t been without its complications. Shortly after filming The Bachelor wrapped, the pair suffered their first of two miscarriages.

“During our first few months together I, unfortunately, suffered a miscarriage,” Irena revealed to our sister site Who Magazine. “But Locky was my absolute rock and having his support made me love him even more.”

Becoming a mother has always been a goal for Irena and Locky was “a little clucky” in late 2021, confessed Irena on Instagram.

In March 2023, the pair said ‘I do’ in a secret Melbourne-based ceremony surrounded by their friends and family.

“Surprise ,” Irena began on Instagram.

“We couldn’t have imagined a more perfect way to start our forever. Our hearts are overflowing with love and gratitude as we look back on the most magical night of our lives.

“You all thought you were coming for an engagement party, but we had a little something extra up our sleeves! ”

A few months later, the pair suffered a second miscarriage around June 2023. After her announcement to Instagram, she followed with a thank you message to the fans that shared their personal stories.

“Reading them made me feel less alone as I hope my story may make someone out there also feel less alone,” she wrote.

But on September 20, 2023, the couple shared a video announcing “the biggest surprise of [their] lives” – a little baby who they welcomed into the world on February 23, 2024.

In mid-April, fans received their first look at newest member of the Gilbert-Srbinovska clan. In the Instagram caption, Irena titled it, “Life with Ava.”

“We’ve been soaking up every minute with Ava and loving life with our baby girl. I haven’t known a love like this and I am so blessed. I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night (if she hasn’t woken me already) just to check that she is real and she is mine ,” she wrote.

Peter Daicos is married to his wife Colleen, and it’s believed the couple have been together since the early 1990s. However, there is limited information about the exact timeline and specific dates in regards to their relationship.

Colleen spoke to our sister site New Idea about Peter being on I’m A Celebrity, saying “It’s been so strange not to be able to speak to him.”

“I think the longest Peter and I have been apart before this is six days,” she added.

Peter and Colleen have welcomed three children together, one daughter and two sons.

Josh Daicos, 25, and Nick Daicos, 21, have followed in their father’s footsteps and both play for Collingwood in the AFL.

Josh was selected for the team in the 2016 draft, while Nick was selected in the 2021 draft. The former has appeared in over 100 games for the club, while the latter recently notched up 50 games himself.

The Daicos brothers have continued the family Collingwood legacy, taking home the 2023 AFL Premiership.

Peter spoke to SEN about how he fostered his sons’ AFL skills, saying: “One of the things that I continually did was I was involved in my kids’ sport, which I think is – whether as a coach or just turning up – is really important.”

“I’m stating the obvious, but I think taking them to the football … I even used to take both boys into the commentary box when I was involved in commentary and media, I’d always have them there and we’d go to games, and they didn’t necessarily have to be Collingwood games. I’d take them to a game, and they’d get all excited. We’d go home and kick a ball for an hour or so in the yard or in the living room.”

Peter Daicos and wife Colleen also share one daughter named Madison who is the couple’s eldest child.

The 32-year-old was old enough to attend some of her father’s AFL games before he retired in 1994, and Peter has reflected on one of his most cherished memories with his daughter, which was when Maddie was present at his final game for Collingwood.

“I got the opportunity to run a lap with my daughter at the MCG. I asked if I could do it and the AFL said no. I said to my wife, ‘Bugger it, just hand her over to me,’ and as I got halfway around, she handed Maddie over. Speaking to New Idea, Maddie said “We’ve all really missed him while he’s been away, but watching him on TV makes us feel really connected to him.”

The lovebirds, or ‘it couple’ of Australian TV, met in 2015 whilst filming the Stan series No Activity which was a detective comedy, running for two seasons.

Prior to this meet, Patrick was working his way through Australian TV with Offspring and Upper Middle Bogan. As too was Harriet, best recognised for her role in Love Child.

A year later in 2016, Patrick moved to Los Angeles with Harriet joining him in 2017.

“I think you want to be close to the person you’re with,” she told Confidential at the time. “I think it was a natural thing anyway.”

In 2021, Patrick got down on one knee and proposed to his partner while holidaying in Tampa, Florida. Rather than wait months to plan a wedding, the couple waited a mere five days before Harriet walked down the aisle.

“I’m in my late thirties so I didn’t want to muck around,” Catriona told Woman’s Day in 2010, while she was pregnant with Charles. “I don’t want to be pregnant for the next seven years, and while that baby changing table is out, we may as well put it to good use!”

Despite her public life on television, and having arguably one of the most incredible jobs, Catriona has kept her family life relatively private. But judging from what little fans have seen of the family, they are enjoying the farm life.

In April 2023, Catriona shared this hilarious anniversary post to Instagram, replacing James aka “babycakes” with a sheep!

“Here’s a before and after shot for you, considering my man has not had a haircut in years and I say ‘he’s turning into a ram!’ I thought I’d just save time and offer a realistic view of us. 15 years married, 23 years bonded, ain’t love grand,” she wrote.

“Meet Brambles and Wolfgang. A couple of Silkie Coq’s and the newest members of our family (am I mad?),” she joked on Instagram.

Tristan has been married to Australian actress Tahyna MacManus (née Tozzi), 37, since 2014, and the couple now share three children together.

Tahyna is most well-known for her roles in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Aussie teen drama Blue Water High.

The 37-year-old is not only an actress, but also a director, writer and producer who co-founded an all-female led production company named Neon Jane Productions.

Tahyna’s sister is also a well-known Australian model, Cheyenne Tozzi. 

Tristan was introduced to his wife through mutual friends in 2011 at a Thai restaurant in Los Angeles, California.

They dated for five years, dividing their time between Ireland and LA, before getting married in Sydney in 2014.

10 years on, they are still happily married and loving life with their three kids.

Tristan and Tahyna’s first child, a daughter named Echo Ìsolde, was born two years after their wedding on 5 April 2016.

The couple announced the arrival of their second child, a son, on 1 March 2019. They named him Oisín Lír.

The pair’s third child, another boy, Tadhg Nuada MacManus was born on 3 May 2021.

“It’s interesting being together this long because we have navigated through the very beginnings of our careers,” Theo told the Evening Standard in 2020. “That can be hard at times, but also that [brings] certain strengths [to] a relationship.”

A few years down the track, Ruth and Theo welcomed their first child, a daughter, together in August 2021. However, her name remains unknown.

“It’s discombobulating at first, especially with your first child because your whole life changes, but ultimately it makes you — definitely for me, at least — a much more solid person,” he told Instyle of fatherhood.

All was quiet on the family’s front, until the 2023 Emmy Awards on January 15, 2024, when Theo revealed he had secretly welcomed a second child.

“We have a 4-month-old. We’re in the thick of it,” he announced during the Emmys red carpet show. “We have a daughter and then a 4-month-old son.”

After the romantic proposal, April went to the bathroom to retouch her makeup – from tears of joy – when she recognised a familiar face floating on the boat beside her with the song “Going to the Chapel” playing.

On the boat was her family, including her mother and former INXS rocker and dad, Kirk.

The proposal was nine months in the making, with Adam considering numerous occasions before selecting the perfect boat trip as he “wanted everything to be just right.”

“We ate, we laughed, we cried, I stared at my newly adorned hand, and at my dreamy ex-boyfriend – now fiancé. ,” she concluded.

It is unclear how the lovebirds met in 2022, but it is clear to see they are absolutely smitten with one another. In celebration of their one-year anniversary in 2023, April shared a montage of some of their more memorable moments and fans swooned at the sight of them.

After they announced they were expecting for a second time, Tim revealed why he thought baby number two would be so “different”.

“Anna’s doing most of the work at the moment, but we’re so busy with Elle, and she’s just an absolute ratbag at three now,” he laughs. “We haven’t really had much time to prepare,” Tim shared with TV Week.

Like Cate, Andrew has a rich history in the entertainment industry as an Australian playwright, screenwriter, producer and director.

Within three weeks of their relationship, Andrew dropped to one knee and proposed to Cate. While speaking to Ellen DeGeneres in 2015, Cate confessed her fear he would propose mere days into the relationship.

“We were in bed as you are after three days,” she recalled. “He said, ‘Cate,’ and I thought, ‘s— he’s gonna ask me to marry him and I’m gonna have to say yes.’ And then he said, ‘No, I’m hungry, do you want to go get something to eat?’”

In these years of wedding bliss, the couple have welcomed four children. The eldest child, Dashiell John Upton was born on December 3, 2001. Their second son, Roman Robert Upton arriving on April 23, 2004, and Ignatius Martin Upton arriving over three years later on January 1, 2008.

Cate revealed in an interview with People the literary inspiration behind Roman and Ignatius’ names.

“I was eight months pregnant and hallucinating, and there’s a section in the book where he gets so upset that everyone teases him because his name is Professor Pee-Pee Poopypants that he forces the world to change their names,” she explained.

“They have this interior code, and they give these examples of names. You go down to ‘I’ and the example is Ignatius. It was like the Virgin Mary going ‘Boom!’”

Cate and Andrew were boy-parents before they adopted their daughter Edith Vivian Patricia Upton on March 6, 2015.

While the Australia actress previously admitted it was “great” to have a full boy household, she was absolutely “besotted” with her little girl.

Celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, the couple’s path to happily ever after hasn’t always been easy, but Jess, 53, admits that marrying Pete, 57, was “the best decision” she ever made.

They first met when a then-19-year-old Jess was doing work experience at Nine – but a romance was the last thing on either of their minds.

“Sparks didn’t fly between us then,” Jess said on her podcast The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show.

“We were at very different stages of our lives.”

However, years later, the pair bumped into one another at the TV WEEK Logies and soon after, Jess decided to ask Pete out on a date.

Having recently gone through a divorce, Pete wasn’t sure he was ready for a new relationship, but after a nudge from a friend he accepted Jess’ offer, and they never looked back.

After tying the knot in 2004, the pair’s thoughts turned to starting a family but they soon learned that conceiving wouldn’t be an easy road for them.

“Aged 33, and newly married, I’d wrongly assumed that becoming pregnant would be easy,” Jess told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“We had a huge mortgage with a perfect baby room set aside, but suddenly there was a glitch in our plan – after two years of trying, my body was letting me down.”

Jess was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), which affects a woman’s fertility, so the couple opted for IVF.

After a few failed attempts, Jess admits she felt “completely powerless” and struggled seeing those around her fall pregnant.

“I wanted to scream, ‘I’m on IVF and I don’t know if I can be a mum,'” she wrote in her memoir Is This My Beautiful Life?

“Don’t tell me how wonderful it is to be a mother! And don’t you dare complain about how tired you are.”

Fortunately, their fourth attempt was successful and in 2007, the pair welcomed their “little miracle” – a daughter named Allegra Penelope Overton.

It was during this emotional time that Jess also replaced Tracy Grimshaw as the co-host of Today alongside Karl Stefanovic.

She was instantly criticised for everything, from her haircut to her laugh, and upon returning from maternity leave in 2007, Jess was unceremoniously let go over “payment disputes” with the network.

Recalling the trying time in their careers and marriage, Peter says their IVF journey was what “sustained” them as a couple.

“That was our little secret wasn’t it? It was the thing that sustained us as all that rubbish went on at the Today show, at least we had our IVF journey,” he said.

Adding to their trials, Jess started to experience symptoms of anxiety after Allegra’s birth and was diagnosed with PND (postnatal depression).

“I felt like a failure when I found out I had postnatal depression,” she said on her podcast.

“I was so ashamed and felt I had to hide it from you [Pete] and from everyone because I felt like I was letting everyone down.”

But she summoned up the courage to tell Peter, and he stood by her every step of the way as she sought professional help.

After working on her mental wellbeing, Jess finally started to feel like herself again and during a date night with Peter, the couple miraculously conceived their second child naturally.

In 2009, the pair welcomed another daughter, Giselle Charlotte Overton. While they have gone through many trials in their relationship, they have always supported one another completely.

And despite admitting that they are chalk and cheese when it comes to everything from fashion to their personalities, they make a perfect team.

“Opposites attract,” Peter said in the podcast. “If they ever want to do a global case study I think it’s you and I, but we are very, very happy.”

Jess added, “We are so very different but what is so special about our relationship is we’re a team and we do bring the best out in each other, and I do feel very blessed to have him.”

Since retiring from tennis in 2022, Ash has been busy building a family of her own.

Ash Barty achieved so much in her professional tennis career, despite it being relatively short.

She was ranked world number one for a total of 121 weeks, and won three grand slam titles.

Ash first won the French Open in 2019, followed by Wimbledon in 2021, and in a final we’re sure all of Australia will remember, she won the Australian Open in 2022.

At just 25 years of age, and as a shock no one really saw coming, the former world number one announced her retirement from tennis just two months after winning the Australian Open.

Following her retirement, Ash said, “I achieved my dreams. Everyone has different dreams and different ways of defining success. But for me, I knew that I gave everything I could, and I was fortunate to live out my ultimate childhood dream.

“Now it was time for me to explore what else was out there and not be, I suppose, greedy in a sense of keep playing tennis because that’s what I was expected to do, and then you blink and maybe the other things have passed you by.”

As it turns out for Ash, one of those things she didn’t want to miss out on was starting a family.

In July 2022, the tennis player announced her marriage to golfer and long-term partner, Garry Kissick.

The pair met in 2016 while playing a round of golf in Queensland, where they apparently clicked instantly. Ash and Garry have kept their romance relatively low-key since.

But excitingly, in January 2023, Ash announced the couple were expecting a bundle of joy!

“2023 set to be the best year yet. We are so excited for our new adventure ,” Ash wrote in her Instagram announcement.

Ash and husband Garry welcomed their first child, a beautiful baby boy named Hayden, on 3 July 2023 and have since shared the sweetest moments as a family of three.

Speaking to News Corp in 2023, Ash opened up on the joys of motherhood, saying, “It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, and hardest thing I’ve ever done.

“Hayden is amazing, I feel so very lucky. Garry and I are really just enjoying what is a pretty quiet time together at home as a little family.

“Having seen my sisters become mums, and spending so much time with their kids, I had some idea of how it would feel, but it’s certainly at a different level when it’s your own child, and they are completely dependent on you! It’s pretty incredible,” Ash said.

The couple had another daughter, announced on Instagram by Tom.

“Welcome little Lotte mama was amazing, sister is smitten, and dada is increasingly outnumbered by his gorgeous girl gang”, the 60 Minutes presenter and former Today Show host wrote alongside some gorgeous photos of the new baby.

Tom also posted a photo of their other daughter, Frederikke (two), holding her baby sister, along with a snap of the new family of four.

“Well done family ”, David Campbell commented on the post, with Married At First Sight star Domenica Calarco saying, “Such beautiful news! Congratulations beautiful people xxxxx”.

The couple welcomed their first child, Frederikke, on 16 November 2021.

In Tom’s announcement, he said “Our gorgeous girl, Frederikke Born yesterday – mum was amazing, Freddie is too beautiful for words, and dad cried more than the baby”.

Claudia also shared a sweet post about Frederikke’s arrival, writing, “Welcome Frederikke We love golden hour and life chats with our favourite girl.”

Tom Steinfort and Claudia Jukic were married in Hvar, Croatia on 30 August 2019 in a stunning ceremony. However, they didn’t have a legally binding ceremony until 2020, where they went to a courthouse in Melbourne during lockdown to officially tie the knot. The pair met in 2018 through mutual friends, and the rest is history!

The NRL Tigers player and his wife will no doubt be thrilled to welcome an addition to their brood, and a little brother or sister for Fox, especially given the difficulties they faced in becoming parents previously.

Sharing a picture of an ultrasound to Instagram, Zoe wrote: “It’s really bloody hard for me to keep a secret. That’s why I’ve hardly been on Instagram or sharing stories because I don’t trust myself that it would just slip out.”

She continued: “It’s time. I’ve been incredibly sick and isolated for the last 11 weeks because of this little monkey. I’m sharing this and so much vital information I learnt from this season on today’s [podcast] episode.

“I look forward to being honest and sharing the good, bad and really ugly bits of this time with you all. Mini marshall due day before my birthday (god help me another Gemini) June 2021.”

In her post, she shared a snippet from her podcast, The Deep, which delves into dealing with trauma and struggles that people often don’t talk about.

In the recording, she talks about how cautious she and Benji had been around this second pregnancy given the complications they’ve had in the past.

She explained that Benji had a lot of anxiety around her announcing they were expecting prematurely, which was completely understandable.

“He’s just been very private in general,” she said.

Back in 2017, the pair spoke to Woman’s Day about their difficult road to parenthood.

After suffering severe stage-four endometriosis, Zoe was convinced this was the reason for their struggle

to fall pregnant.

She admitted in her darkest moments, she feared she would never have a child.

“We always knew we wanted a baby, so living with that uncertainty was tough. It was always in the back of my mind,” she told Woman’s Day in 2017.

After years of trying to fall pregnant naturally, Zoe turned to Chinese medical practitioner Dr Shuquan Liu for help.

Six months later, on her 33rd birthday, Zoe received the news she and Benji had been hoping for – she was pregnant.

After the safe arrival of their son, the pair again spoke to Woman’s Day to share the experience.

The 10 hour labour was an ordeal in itself.

“The doctor said the cord was wrapped about the baby’s neck, so I told Zoe she had to push.

It was as if I was giving a talk to the boys on the field,” Benji told us.

“Everyone in the room was making pushing noises to motivate her. Then the doctor said I’d have to grab the baby really tightly, because he’d feel like a wet footy. I squeezed him so hard, he was going nowhere!”

We’re thrilled that the pair will soon welcome another addition to their growing family.

After everything they’ve been through, it certainly seems they’re both more than up to the challenge.

Speaking to The Australian Women’s Weekly in 2017, Sylvia confessed that she and Pete would “love a house full of kids.”

“Our hope is that down the track, we could have a house on the Gold Coast so that our kids can have the same experiences with their cousins that we both had as kids with our cousins,” Sylvia said.

So when Oscar Hamilton Stefanovic came into the world in February 2020, his parents were over the moon.

Ahead of Oscar’s birth, Peter told TV WEEK: “My whole life has been based on jumping in the deep end and seeing what happens. I feel you do your best learning that way – and being a dad will be no different. I plan to learn as I go.”
