Sylvia Jeffreys may be known for her hosting skills on Today Extra, where she informs and entertains Australians every morning with spectacular ease.

But did you know about her stellar baking skills?

We first spotted her talent after she welcomed her eldest son Henry in 2020 when she whipped up a train cake made from the Australian Women’s Weekly Birthday Cake book.

Even though fans can see how wonderfully her baking efforts turn out, Sylvia tends to offer a humble jab or two at herself when her cooks don’t go perfectly.

But as they say, it’s not about the journey but the destination!

Sylvia’s mum used to make cakes for her birthdays growing up too, and we believe it’s one of the best traditions to carry on – and we’re sure her sons Oscar and Henry (and husband Peter Stefanovic) agree!

Enjoy the mother-of-two’s best baking moments in the gallery below – but beware, you’ll be craving some serious cake after.

In celebration of The Australian Women’s Children’s Birthday Cake Book‘s 40th anniversary, Sylvia got into the spirit by making this train cake.

She captioned this picture, “Train 1 – Sylvia 0. Poor preparation led to a few improvisations which I didn’t exactly pull off (see closeup of the very sad smoke stack). And my icing leaves much to be desired.

“Happy birthday @youngcareoz & happy anniversary to the @womensweeklymag Children’s Birthday Cake Book. 🎂”

“Our cuddly koala tested us in many ways, but together we overcame the fiddly challenges of coconut and cocoa and little liquorice paws to complete something that does in fact resemble a cuddly koala. 🐨 💪🏻,” shared the proud mum about her and Oscar’s baking experience.
