Fans were beyond disappointed to discover Henry Cavill would be handing the Geralt of Rivia name to Australian actor Liam Hemsworth – but could he be proving The Witcher fans wrong?

After three incredible and jaw-dropping seasons, it was announced in October 2022 that Henry would be walking away from The Witcher – despite many believing he was born for this role.

Liam is getting jacked for his Witcher role.

With the fanbase growing and storylines getting more intense, there was no way Netflix could cancel the series. Yet, when it was announced that Liam would be stepping up in the fourth season, many failed to see the Aussie actor in the supernatural role.

But a black and white photo of Liam in the gym shared in April 2024 may have debunked fans’ concerns, showing off his transformation in preparation for his new gig. A monster-hunter obviously needs strength to take down all the villains, so far Liam seems to be nailing the prerequisites.

“A massive thank you to everyone that has watched Land of Bad! The feedback has been awesome,” he captioned the image (above). “Extremely grateful for all the love and support!”

At the time of the role-swap announcement, Liam confessed that he was “over the moon” about the opportunity to portray Geralt as a fan of the supernatural series himself.

“Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure,” he wrote.

“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”

Meanwhile, “laying down [his] medallion and [his] swords,” Henry wished Liam the best of luck.

“In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men,” he wrote.

“Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”

Home and Away spoilers: Married Levi’s lies finally catch up with him https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/home-and-away-levi-affair/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 05:01:16 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=508281 Secret affair exposed!

The post Home and Away spoilers: Married Levi’s lies finally catch up with him appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
Ever since he arrived in Summer Bay, Levi has been desperately juggling the women in his life and now after week’s of lies, Levi and Mac’s affair has finally been exposed in Home And Away.

From making up with his sister Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) to starting a relationship with his patient Mackenzie (Emily Weir) while keeping his wife Imogen (Georgia Blizzard) at arm’s length in Home and Away, it’s been hard to keep up with all Levi’s lies.

For Eden, it’s the ultimate betrayal: how could her brother do the very thing their father did that wrecked their family when they were young?

Doctor Levi (Tristan Gorey) insists this is different – his marriage to Imogen (Georgia Blizzard) was all but over long before he arrived in Summer Bay. And with Mac (Emily Weir), he’s found someone he could fall in love with again. But he knows what he’s done could push away Eden (Stephanie Panozzo) forever.

“Levi’s heart is torn in two when his sister finally finds out about his ‘extracurricular activities’,” Tristan, 29, tells TV WEEK. “Part of him is proudly in love with Mackenzie, but the other is disappointed with himself, knowing he’s made the same mistake that tore his family apart when he was just a child.

“Having finally earned Eden’s trust again, he’s devastated when she erupts over what he’s done to Imogen. It seems history has repeated itself.”

As others start to learn of the affair – including a furious Felicity (Jacqui Purvis), who can’t believe Mac would ruin someone’s marriage – time is running out for Levi to do what’s right, no matter how hard it will be.

“One thing is for certain,” Tristan says. “Juggling the trust of three woman he cares deeply about will only end in hurt.”

Missed what happened previously with Dr Levi and his three women in Home And Away? Continue scrolling for a mini catch-up.

When doctor Bree (Juliet Godwin) decided to use Levi to make Remi (Adam Rowland) jealous – dragging him up for some dirty dancing at the Salt fundraiser – it was the event that almost exposed Levi.

“Levi has managed to maintain the secret affair with Mackenzie well,” Tristan tells TV WEEK. “However, after the ‘incident’ at Salt, Eden begins to suspect something is bubbling under the surface. Luckily for Levi, it’s Bree she suspects he’s having an affair with – not Mackenzie.”

Convincing Eden that’s not the case – and carefully not mentioning Mackenzie – he thinks he’s in the clear. That is, until Eden decides to help her big brother get his life back on track by inviting Imogen to the Bay for a surprise visit.

Trouble is coming to Home and Away.
(Image: Seven)

It’s definitely a surprise, Tristan says, and not a pleasant one!

“With Imogen in the Bay, it will certainly bring its own unique set of challenges to the ‘arrangement’ Mackenzie and Levi have,” he says.

“If Levi wants to continue seeing Mackenzie, as well as maintaining a relationship with his sister, he’ll need to ensure he’s quick on his feet!”

A chameleon-like Robert Downey Jr shines in the intriguing The Sympathizer https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/where-to-watch-the-sympathizer-australia/ Mon, 15 Apr 2024 01:48:26 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=510072 Master of disguise.

Bringing Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 2015 novel The Sympathizer to the screen was exactly the type of challenge Hollywood A-lister Robert Downey Jr says he’d been “craving”.

The seven-episode HBO series centres around “The Captain” (Hoa Xuande) – a half-French, half-Vietnamese spy for the Communist Viet Cong during the Vietnam War – who flees to a community of refugees from South Vietnam in Los Angeles at war’s end.

(Image: HBO)

But in the US, he soon realises his spying days are far from over…

On the back of his Academy Award-winning performance in Oppenheimer, Robert appears opposite Hoa as several characters, ranging from an up-and-coming congressman, to a CIA operative and a Hollywood power player.

In a pre-production statement, the 58-year-old said he was excited about “playing these complex supporting roles”.

(Image: HBO)

The series’ director, writer and producer, South Korea’s Park Chan-wook, told Vanity Fair each of Robert’s characters represent a different arm of the American establishment.

“Having a colonialist side is something they [the characters ]share,” he says. “They’re not typical saints or villains, but complicated people with both virtues and flaws.”

The filmmaker added that he was blown away by Robert’s chameleonic ability to quickly “come up with a very different performance”.

(Image: HBO)

Meanwhile, Australian actor Hoa told Vanity Fair it was nerve-racking working opposite the Hollywood heavyweight. In fact, his very first scene was alongside both the Iron Man star and Emmy Award winner Sandra Oh, who has a recurring role in the series. Pleasingly, Hoa felt fully supported.

“It can be intimidating when you work with someone like Robert and know he’s going to run circles around you,” Hoa says. “But he lent this comforting hand on my shoulder and said, ‘We’re in this together.’”

Ella Purnell reveals what it was like to bring the iconic – and violent – world of Fallout to life https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/where-to-watch-fallout-australia/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 23:19:02 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=510037 More than a game.

The post Ella Purnell reveals what it was like to bring the iconic – and violent – world of Fallout to life appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
For more than 25 years, gamers have been drawn into the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout. The role-playing game series is set in America, decades after a nuclear war, where a privileged few Vault Dwellers are living deep underground while everyone else fights for survival on the surface, known as the Wasteland.

Fallout is now a drama series currently available to stream on Prime Video in Australia, and no expense has been spared in bringing this classic game world to TV.

Fallout is led by Ella Purnell.
(Image: Prime Video)

“They made the Skeleton Coast of Namibia look like the Pacific coastline in California,” series star Ella Purnell tells TV WEEK. “It really was huge.”

The series begins in 1977, with nuclear bombs being dropped on Los Angeles. It picks up 219 years later inside the homey Vault 33, where Ella’s character, Lucy MacLean, lives with dad Hank (Kyle MacLachlan) and brother Norm (Moisés Arias), surrounded by fields of corn.

“Lucy comes from a long line of Vault Dwellers,” Ella, 27, explains. “She believes their purpose is to procreate and to one day go up to the surface and rebuild America.”

Lucy is set to marry a man from another Vault. But when her wedding day goes horribly wrong, she heads to the surface on a mission.

Welcome to the post-apocalyptic world of Fallout.
(Image: Prime Video)

“She’s very innocent, naïve and sheltered,” Ella adds. “She gets a pretty rude awakening.”

Meanwhile, Maximus, played by Aaron Moten, is a similar age to Lucy but has had a much tougher upbringing.

“Maximus was born and raised in the Wasteland,” Aaron says.

As a child, Maximus was taken in by the militaristic cult called the Brotherhood Of Steel. He’s loyal to them, but is brutally bullied by the other recruits. When he sees the chance to become squire to an armour-wearing knight, he leaps at it. But both Lucy and Maximus will find their lives under threat from a terrifying bounty hunter known as The Ghoul (Walton Goggins).

Ella portrays Lucy.
(Image: Prime Video)

There’s plenty of action in Fallout. Ella’s first day on set involved a long fight sequence that left her feeling “so sore”, while Aaron’s first day saw him jumping out of a helicopter.

“To keep our bodies healthy to survive the shoot was vital,” Aaron, 35, says.

Despite the shoot being tough, Ella says it was an “honour” to bring Fallout to life. She remembers how it felt to walk onto the Vault set for the first time.

“The magnitude of that moment was not lost on me. It’s iconic in the games.”

Home and Away spoilers: Can Cash save Stevie before it’s too late? https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/home-and-away-cash-save-stevie/ Sun, 14 Apr 2024 20:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=509867 Dash for Cash!

As a red-carpet event for her new movie nears, film star Stevie thinks it’s finally safe to come out of hiding and be with her fans. But with her stalker still on the loose, Cash is furious – this could be the worst idea she’s ever had.

Everyone will know exactly where Stevie (Catherine Van-Davies) will be and what time she’ll be there, making it an attacker’s dream. But Cash (Nicholas Cartwright) has been fired as her bodyguard, so what can he do?

home and away cash stalker stevie
(Image: Seven)

“Cash knows that the danger facing Stevie is real and it’s escalating,” Nicholas, 36, tells TV WEEK. “Just because Stevie fired him doesn’t mean Cash can turn off the part of himself that cares about her safety.”

After talking through his choices with Eden (Stephanie Panozzo), Cash decides the risk is too high and he’s going to keep Stevie safe – whether she likes it or not!

Arriving at the event, he’s horrified at how easily he can walk straight in. He realises that if he can, anyone could.

“He sees that Stevie has put herself in a dangerous position,” Nicholas explains. “No-one is checking the fans attending the event, so a stalker could easily get close.”

(Image: Seven)

Pointing this out to Stevie, he manages to convince her it might not be a bad idea to have him stick around. And it doesn’t take long for her to see he was right when the stalker suddenly lunges from the crowd.

“Cash doesn’t know what the stalker is capable of,” Nicholas says. “So he takes the opportunity to end the threat.”

Will he be able to stop the attack in time? Or has Stevie’s choice to put the spotlight ahead of her safety pushed her luck one time too many?

TRIGGER: This article discusses illicit substances. Reader discretion is advised.

Spiralling in the wake of the loss of her unborn baby, former addict Krista slips back into taking drugs – but when Aaron catches her, she might just be able to get away with it.

“Krista is mortified she’s been sprung,” Majella Davis, who plays the character, tells TV WEEK, “But if you were to be caught by anyone, best it’s by the person experiencing the kind of life-shattering grief you are.”

(Image: Supplied)

This week in Neighbours, Aaron (Matt Wilson) and Krista bond over their recent tragedies – it was only in February that Aaron lost his husband David (Takaya Honda) to a vicious assault. When Krista comes across him drowning his sorrows at The Waterhole, she pressures him to let her join in a drink, despite her being sober for several months.

When Aaron sees the pain she’s in, he reluctantly agrees. What harm could just one drink do?

“Partying with Aaron is giving her a relief she can’t feel anywhere else,” Majella says. “It’s like finally being free of her nightmares.”

The next morning, Aaron takes off for his former home in Daylesford in country Victoria. He’s left Erinsborough to reconnect with David’s memory – but doesn’t realise that Krista, worried about him, has followed him.

(Image: Supplied)

Aaron appreciates the unexpected support, and the pair bond – that is, until he discovers a bag of pills in Krista’s bag. But it’s what he does next that will shock.

Old habits die hard, and now that Krista is off the wagon, she risks not only losing her job at Lassiters, but sabotaging her relationship with heron-off boyfriend Leo (Tim Kano), from whom she’s hiding her addiction.

“Her biggest fear is losing Leo,” Majella says. “She can’t imagine being without him right now, but she can’t help but fall into old habits.”

Will Aaron keep Krista’s dirty little secret to cover his own involvement?

The post Bridgerton is gearing up for a steamy Season 3 with Penelope & Colin appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
The Bridgerton series took the world by storm when it was first released in 2020. Now, the show is gearing up for its third season.

This is everything you need to know about season three of Bridgerton.

Season three of Bridgerton will be released in 2024.

(Image: Netflix)

When does Bridgerton season 3 premiere?

The release date of season three of Bridgerton has officially been announced by Netflix! The new season will be launched in two batches of four episodes each.

Part one of the season will be released on 16 May 2024, with part two premiering almost a month later, on 13 June 2023.

Where can you watch season 3 of Bridgerton?

Upon it is released, season three will be available to stream on Netflix. However, Bridgerton fanatics can get their fix by watching season one and two, currently available on the streaming platform.

Which Book is Bridgerton Season 3 based on?

As fans know, the show is based on a series of books by Julia Quinn. While some changes have been made, the Netflix production is largely following the overall plot and themes of the novel. If you want to start your Penelope x Colin journey now, you’ll want to pick up the fourth book titled Romancing Mister Bridgerton (available at Booktopia for $19.75).

When did season 3 start filming?

In July 2022, Nicola Coughlan revealed via Instagram that Bridgerton season three had officially started filming. She captioned her post “Get ready for the (carriage) ride of your lives, filming for #Bridgerton Season Three has begun!”.

Season three will follow the love story between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton.

(Image: Liam Daniel/Netflix)

What is the plot of Bridgerton season 3?

To conclude season two, the perfect enemies-to-lovers trope with Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma came to a blissful end with the pair finally admitted their love and getting married. Penelope Featherington and Eloise Bridgerton had a friendship falling out when Eloise found out that her best friend was Lady Whistledown. Meanwhile, Penelope was left heartbroken when she overheard Colin Bridgerton saying that he would never court her.

But was he telling the truth? It was announced in May 2022 that season three would feature the love story between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). This plot line follows the fourth book in Julia Quinn’s series, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton.

According to Netflix, to begin the new season Penelope has given up on her affection toward Colin after she overheard his harsh comments about her. Instead, she decides it is time for her to find a husband and have a life away from her mother and sisters, however her lack of confidence proves it a difficult task for her.

Meanwhile, Colin returns from his summer travels only to be faced with Penelope’s disdain towards him.

“Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly,” the synopsis read.

Be fully prepared for the subtle chemistry to transform into sparks flying.

Most of the cast will be back for season three.

(Image: Liam Daniel/Netflix)

Who has been cast in season 3 of Bridgerton?

Majority of the original cast will be reprising their roles for season three, however, some actors will also sadly be departing the show.

Season one star Phoebe Dynevor has announced she will not be returning to her role of Daphne Bridgerton in season three.

The role of Francesca Bridgerton was also recast, with Ruby Stokes departing.

The cast list will include:

 • Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington
 • Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton
 • Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton
 • Simone Ashley as Kate (Sharma) Bridgerton
 • Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton
 • Ruth Gemmell as Violet Bridgerton

In mid-February, the cast gathered to attend its season three premiere in which Netflix gave Bridgerton fanatics a teaser in what to expect for the upcoming season.

As for the other episode titles, fans will just have to be patient!

Running a grimy sandwich joint is no easy feat. Opening up a new restaurant, however, is even harder as we soon learn in season two of The Bear.

While season one found its cult following with the show’s lead, Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), as he inherits his brother’s sandwich shop following his death, season two reaches new heights as he attempts the unthinkable: turn the family-owned restaurant into a next-level spot.

Showcasing the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership while introducing strong-willed and colourful kitchen staff, not to mention the ins and outs of strained familial relationships, the audience gets a real taste of the highs and lows of working in hospitality.

And, fans will be pleased to know The Bear has been renewed for a third and fourth season, the former expected to arrive sometime in 2024. Here, we gather all the details of the hit show, including where to stream it.

Where can I watch The Bear in Australia?

Currently, you can stream seasons one and two of The Bear now on Disney+ in Australia with a subscription of $13.99 per month, or $139.99 per year.

Season three will follow suit and launch on the streaming platform when it airs in June this year. An official release date is yet to be confirmed.

Stream The Bear now on Disney Plus with a mth-to-mth no lock-in contract. Subscribe here.

Who is cast in The Bear?

The Bear stars Jeremy Allen White as Carmy, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Carmy’s cousin ‘Richie’, Ayo Edebiri as sous chef Sydney, and Abby Elliott as Carmy’s sister Natalie ‘Sugar’.

Joining them in recurring roles as kitchen staff are Lionel Boyce as Marcus, Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina, Edwin Lee Gibson as Ebraheim and Matty Matheson as Neil ‘Fak’.

The series has gained a cult following. (Credit: FX/Disney)

Why is The Bear series so popular?

Having racked up numerous awards in its first season, including being honoured as an AFI TV Program of the Year, as well as a WGA Award, PGA Award, Film Independent Spirit Award, American Cinema Editors Award and ACE Eddie Award, the critically acclaimed series is popular for many reasons.

For starters, there are no filters in The Bear. What you see is what you get, and what you get is total and utter chaos fuelled by dysfunctional relationships and even more dysfunctional people – yet rooting for them all the same.

“The entire time I felt like I was watching Masterchef, The Sopranos and Gilmore Girls at the same time. It’s so dynamic, so expressive, without any fillers, no-nonsense, everything said and done had a purpose,” said one reviewer on Reddit.

“It’s a family/friendship drama, a comedy, an uplifting story and a culinary show all at the same time. And it works.”

How Summer Bay helped Stephanie Panozzo and Angelina Thomson forge a wonderful friendship https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/home-and-away-stephanie-panozzo-angelina-thomson/ Sun, 07 Apr 2024 20:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=509277 'It feels like home.'

The post How Summer Bay helped Stephanie Panozzo and Angelina Thomson forge a wonderful friendship appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
When Stephanie Panozzo and Angelina Thomson both landed roles in Home And Away in 2022, the pressure of becoming part of one of Australia’s best-known shows while far from their homes and partners saw the actresses become a shoulder to cry on for the other.

“There have been many times in the past two years where I’ve come to work, seen Steph and just bawled my eyes out while she’s held me, and we’ve cried in each other’s arms,” Angelina, 26, tells TV WEEK. “We’re doing long-distance with our partners, so we have that shared experience.”

(Image: Paul Suesse)

“It’s a rollercoaster, and I can’t imagine what it would have been like to do solo,” Stephanie, 29, adds.

Their characters, Eden (Stephanie) and Kirby (Angelina), are both members of four-piece rock band Lyrik – in real life, the pair are accomplished musicians too.

“The connection with music really ties us all together when we’re on set,” Angelina says. “We all jam in between songs whenever they’re doing new set-ups [for scenes]. Someone will be playing the guitar, then Steph and I will start singing. That connection with music brings us together.”

(Image: Paul Suesse)

Although their characters started out on the show at the same time, the pair have their own storylines and love interests, which sometimes takes the Bay besties away from one another.

“Our storyline started together, and then I dated Cash [Nicholas Cartwright] and Kirby dated Theo [Matt Evans] and we kind of got separated,” Steph says. “It made me emotional, because I thought, ‘Gosh – what if Angie and I do ever get separated?’ But whenever we come back together, it feels like home.”

As two of Summer Bay’s cool chicks, it’s no surprise that Eden and Kirby have had male admirers and relationships on the show. Thankfully, when the actresses have had to film intimate scenes, their partners in real life haven’t been too fazed.

(Image: Paul Suesse)

“There was an initial conversation about that, but when you’re dating an actor, it’s kind of a given that those scenes might be a possibility,” Stephanie explains. “But my partner was pretty understanding.”

“On set, you know there’s nothing romantic about it,” Angelina adds. “It’s [a love scene] so choreographed. You need an arm here, your hair there… it’s all very thought-out – it’s like a dance. Then you have 15 to 20 crew standing around and an intimacy coordinator to make sure everyone is safe, so it isn’t what you think.”

Bubbly Melbourne-born Stephanie and Angelina, who has Cook Islands heritage, both “don’t really drink” and spend their time outside of work eating açaí bowls and doing silly photo shoots on Coogee Beach in Sydney’s east, taking in the beautiful surrounds and feeling grateful to be a part of the Home And Away legacy – together.

(Image: Paul Suesse)

“At first, I tried to not even acknowledge I was on the show, because I was trying to focus so much on the work so I didn’t get overwhelmed by the legacy or the fact that I’m a part of this huge thing that I wanted for so long,” Angelina says.

But now that the women have settled in, they love to walk around the Channel Seven set, embracing their dream jobs and celebrating how far they’ve come in their careers.

“It’s surreal,” Steph says. “This was such a big dream before I came here, and then I catch myself walking around between scenes, in the pier diner, in my little dressing gown with my name on it, and it’s a nice reminder that I’m doing the right thing.”

Having grown up idolising the show, Angelina needed a minute to wrap her head around her new reality when she filmed her first scene with Ray Meagher, who plays Bay stalwart Alf Stewart.

“I remember trying to control my racing heart,” she recalls. “I was so nervous and trying to keep my cool. I grew up watching people like Emily Symons [Marilyn], Georgie Parker [Roo] and Ada Nicodemou [Leah] and now I’m here with them.”

The actresses have big dreams for themselves now, knowing what they are capable of. But that doesn’t necessarily only apply to their careers, as they both hope to one day juggle their love of acting and starting a family.

“We’re lucky that we’re surrounded by so many people who are doing both [having kids and a career],” Stephanie says. “When you’re close to it and can see it, it makes it feel possible.”

(Image: Paul Suesse)

“Careers can come and go, but creating life is so important,” Angelina says. “I truly believe that I will learn things in birthing children – a new strength and a new power within myself, and that some of the biggest, best, most incredible things that I’ll do in my career will be post-kids.”

As for whether Hollywood is in their sights, anything is possible, but seeing each other happy is what is most important to them.

“The world is our oyster,” Steph declares. “I’m learning and growing so much at Home And Away, but I’m excited for whatever happens next. I know it’s going to be a journey and I’m excited to do it with you [Angelina]. We’ve cried together, we’ve laughed each other through – I just can’t wait to see what you do next.”

Home and Away: Tane looks set for prison after abducting Maia https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/home-and-away-tane-prison/ Sun, 07 Apr 2024 20:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=509331 ‘I’m handing myself in.'

When Tane snatched baby Maia from hospital in Home And Away and fled Summer Bay, he was just trying to keep her safe, but part of him knew it wouldn’t end well.

And when he found himself the centre of a nationwide search, he knew it was time to turn himself in.

(Image: Seven)

It’s the right thing to do, Tane (Ethan Browne) admits, but things aren’t looking good. Now under arrest and awaiting trial, he knows his decision will have major consequences.

“He’s facing prison time for sure,” Ethan, 32, tells TV WEEK.

And even worse, Tane feels he’s failed Maia – the infant he found abandoned in a sports bag in the dunes in the Bay – who might end up in the government-care system he fought so hard to save her from.

(Image: Seven)

Just as devastated is Dana (Ally Harris), the nurse who let Tane into the hospital to see baby Maia the night he decided to take off with her.

Logically, she knows she’s not to blame for Tane’s rash actions, but she can’t help but feel guilty.

“She’s reasonable enough to know she couldn’t have predicted this,” Ally says. “But it’s a simple case of were he not there with her, he couldn’t have taken her.”

Yellowstone’s Kelly Reilly swaps horses for pigeons in this quirky family drama https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/where-to-watch-little-wing-australia/ Sun, 07 Apr 2024 20:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=509339 Taking flight.

She’s best known for playing tough-as-nails businesswoman Beth Dutton on the hit drama series Yellowstone, but Kelly Reilly takes on a more sensitive role as Maddie, the mother of a teenage girl in the coming-of-age film Little Wing.

The film follows high-schooler Kaitlyn (Brooklynn Prince), who’s struggling to process her parents’ divorce and the fact that her mother is gearing up to sell the family’s home, since she can’t pay the $100,000 mortgage alone.

Enterprising Kaitlyn soon learns that a man called Jaan Vari (Brian Cox) owns a racing pigeon worth $120,000 and happens to live nearby. Kaitlyn decides to steal the pigeon so she can sell it to save her home.

Kelly, 46, says she was won over as soon as she read the script for the film.

“I was very moved by it,” she tells TV WEEK. “The dilemma and situation this little family finds themselves in – that struggle is real.”

Succession star Brian is perfect as gruff pigeon breeder Jaan, who tracks down Kaitlyn, but ultimately opts to help her get the bird back instead of turning her in. Kelly says she particularly loved the unexpected truce being the centrepiece of the film’s story.

“This friendship lends itself to the family coming together and connecting in a way that feels hopeful,” Kelly says. “It’s unexpected – the unexpected kindness of strangers. I was really moved by that.”

Kelly shot the film over only two weeks, but gained a lot from her young co-star Brooklynn in that short time.

“It was a real gift for me to work with Brooklynn and learn from her,” Kelly recalls. “You really want the relationship between you and this actress who’s playing your daughter to feel truthful, but you don’t want to force it. I was nervous the chemistry wouldn’t be there, but I didn’t need to worry, because we had it. She has a lot of very generous energy, so it was really easy to love her!”

Working with the legendary Brian was also a bonus.

“Brian is up there with one of the greats,” Kelly enthuses. “Obviously, his work in Succession is amazing, but I’ve been his fan forever. I got to work with him for one day, and it wasn’t enough. He’s so playful, so alive. I wish I had 50 days with him. I wish I could go to work with him every day.”

Tranquillity, peace and major plot twists: welcome to the wild world of Nine Perfect Strangers.

Based on the Liane Moriarty novel of the same name, the popular series stars Nicole Kidman as Masha Dmitrichenko, an eccentric wellness guru who runs Tranquillum House – a resort where all is not as it seems.

It’s the second time Nicole has worked with the Australian author, after the wildly successful adaptation of Liane’s book Big Little Lies.

And now, it’s been confirmed for a second season. So, here’s everything you need to know…

Image: Prime Video

What is Nine Perfect Strangers about?

The plot of Nine Perfect Strangers translates quite literally from the title, with nine people who don’t know each other sharing in one of the strangest ‘vacations’ of all time.

These nine hand-selected people travel to a wellness retreat that claims it will help them shed their literal and mental baggage.

Masha, the retreat’s enigmatic director, promises to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies through a series of activities, such as hiking or, you know, digging graves and living in silence for extended periods of time. All the while, a mysterious darkness cuts through the ‘tranquil’ nature of the scenic setting.

Though the novel is set in Australia, the TV adaptation has placed the wellness retreat in California in the United States. However, it was still filmed in the Byron Bay hinterland in 2020, at the Soma retreat. Season two, on the other hand, has begun filming in the freezing Swiss Alps.

Image: Prime Video

Who is cast in Nine Perfect Strangers?

Boasting a star-studded cast, Nine Perfect Strangers features Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Regina Hall, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Shannon, Asher Keddie, Manny Jacinto, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Grace Van Patten and Tiffany Boone. Yep, that’s a lot of big names.

Nicole will return for season two, along with Henry Golding, Mark Strong and Lena Olin as series regulars.

Where can I watch Nine Perfect Strangers in Australia?

Produced by Bruna Papandrea and showrunner David E. Kelley for US streaming service Hulu, keen fans were hoping that the show would be picked up by an Australian partner – much like other Hulu dramas Little Fires Everywhere and The Handmaid’s Tale.

Luckily, Nine Perfect Strangers was snapped up by Prime Video in Australia, meaning you can catch it on their streaming service right now. Season two will receive the same treatment and be available on the streaming platform when it airs.

Stream Nine Perfect Strangers on Prime Video from $9.99/mth, with a 30-day free trial.

Trigger Warning: This article discusses sexual assault and misconduct.

iCarly, Drake & Josh, Victorious and The Amanda Show were all but just a few TV shows to dominate our childhood screens during the peak of Nickelodeon.

But what the world didn’t see was a darker reality for some of the child actors on these hit shows, and their experiences on-set that they’re finally ready to tell.

In a new documentary titled Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, alleged cases of sexism, racism and inappropriate behaviour between the producer and young cast members are being explored.

The producer at the face of such allegations is Dan Schneider, who worked on some of the biggest Nickelodeon shows in the late 90s and early 2000s.

The tell-all docuseries features Nickelodeon cast and crew who share their personal stories about on-set experiences working alongside Schneider during that period.

How can I watch Quiet on Set in Australia?

While the documentary was released internationally on March 17 and 18, it will receive a delayed release here in Australia.

Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV premieres on Binge in Australia on April 5 with a double episode, followed by the two final episodes on April 6.

Stream Quiet on Set on Binge from $10/mth, with a 7-day free trial.

Who will be on Quiet on Set?

The series features several people who worked alongside Schneider across the Nickelodeon network, including Drake Bell.

In the documentary, Bell reveals for the first time to be the John Doe victim in Brian Peck’s child abuse case. Peck worked with Schneider as an acting and dialogue coach on All That and The Amanda Show.

“[We are] really proud of and excited by the fact that we’re bringing forward more than a dozen sources who have never shared their stories publicly before,” co-director Mary Robertson told Variety.

Are they releasing more episodes of Quiet on Set?

The four-part series will release a fifth episode featuring Bell alongside All That’s Giovonnie Samuels and Shane Lyons, Bryan Christopher Hearne and Hearne’s mother Tracey Brown.

It’s unclear when exactly the fifth episode, titled Breaking the Silence, will be released in Australia, however, it will air internationally on April 7.

Why Loot Season Two is ‘tastier’ than ever before https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/where-to-watch-loot-australia/ Wed, 03 Apr 2024 03:40:51 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=508974 Who could resist the hilarious life of a billionaire divorcee?

After a very messy and public divorce, Molly Wells’ (Maya Rudolph) returns in the season two of Loot where she is thriving on her own with the support of her friends.

Bringing to life the extreme positives without diving too deep into the negative, we watch Molly don fabulous and over-the-top clothes all the while juggling her work as the head of her philanthropic organisation, Wells Foundation.

While Molly might be the protagonist, it is also the characters that surround her that make the show binge-worthy. Michaela Jae Rodriguez returns as Sofia Salinas to work alongside the iconic actress – a duo she refers to as “oil and vinegar.”

“We do see growth in Molly and Sophia in this season. This is my favorite kind of terminology for them – oil and vinegar,” she admits to TV Week. “That’s a really tasty kind of partnership. Can’t have one without the other.”

“And I think that’s what happens [in season two]. They become a really tasty duo and we get to see them teach each other in ways that I don’t think they would have ever thought before.”

But the defining factor which makes these characters so relatable and hilarious, is the actors intertwining their own “personal lives” and “mannerisms”.

“Everyone has their own point of view on this show, which makes having scenes with each other very enjoyable because everybody is very distinct,” Nat Faxon, who returns as Arthur, shares.

“There’s no two characters that can say the same thing. They all have their own voice and so, my scenes with Sophia are so different from my scenes with Ron, with Nicholas, and with Molly.”

The second season of the Apple TV+ comedy Loot gives viewers a deeper insight into the characters personal lives and “vulnerability.”

“We get to see a little more of them struggle with what they’re opening themselves up to and that includes love, and relationships, family, and finances,” Nat says. “But you get a little glimpse into each character’s bumpy road in terms of trying to figure those things out.”

The second season of Loot is available for streaming on Apple TV+ in Australia, premiering April 3, 2024.

The post Home and Away spoilers: Where has Tane gone with little Maia? appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
In Home and Away it’s finally decided baby Maia will be handed over to foster care, and Tane is crushed. Desperate to be a dad and after being failed by the government-care system himself, he’s worried about what her young life will be like without him.

Then when nurse Dana (Ally Harris) sneaks him into the hospital for a final goodbye despite the AVO policewoman Rose (Kirsty Marillier) has in place, Tane (Ethan Browne) makes a desperate decision.

Snatching Maia – the infant he found abandoned in a sports bag in the dunes in Summer Bay – and going on the run, he’s determined to keep the little girl safe.

“Tane feels failed by the system,” Ethan tells TV WEEK. “He believes he’s doing what’s right for Maia, which is all that matters to him.”

What Tane doesn’t know is that a woman has come forward claiming to be Maia’s mother. Rose is suspicious about the timing of someone appearing out of nowhere after she has spent weeks searching for clues as to where Maia had come from, but without the baby there, she can’t prove a thing.

If Tane can be found, DNA tests could confirm her story, but where is he? In a race against time, Rose tries to stall Maia’s mother while the whole Bay searches for the missing pair.

“He’s running on instinct.”

Tane clashes with police over little Maia in tense episodes of Home And Away this week. Will he chance everything for what he thinks is right?

As viewers well know, Tane (Ethan Browne) always wanted to be a dad, so when baby Maia came into his life in the Bay unexpectedly, it seemed as if the universe had answered his prayers.

What will Tane do?
(Image: Seven)

But will the authorities let him keep the little girl he found abandoned in a bag on the beach? And if they try to take her away, how far is Tane willing to go to keep Maia in his care rather than the government system?

“He believes he’s the only one who truly cares for her, and is worried she won’t be put into a loving home,” Ethan, 32, tells TV WEEK.

“He’s running on instinct, which is to protect Maia and provide a loving and stable home.”

Events come to a head when Maia’s health takes a turn – the infant is running a high temperature.

Although nurse Dana (Ally Harris) tells him it’s nothing to worry about, Tane rushes to the hospital, only to be confronted by doctors and the police. They tell him firmly that he has to stay away – and that if he doesn’t, they’ll take out an AVO to ensure he complies.

In his head, Tane knows he has to heed what they’re saying, but his heart is telling him otherwise. Which will he listen to?

We entered the story at the height of the Targaryen dynasty, and now the second season of HBO’s Game of Thrones spin-off series House of the Dragon will delve into its downfall.

Teasing devastating war, dragons going head-to-head and family bonds being pushed to the limit, the season two trailer for House of the Dragon was more than we could ever hope for.

Set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon is adapted from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood – roughly 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen.

House of the Dragon covers the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, which was during the reign of King Viserys I Targaryen, Rhaenyra’s father.

Ahead of House of the Dragon’s second season, discover everything you need to know below.

How did House of the Dragon season one end?

Before we dive into season two, here is a refresher given it will be a near-two-year hiatus.

Young Lucerys Velaryon died at the hands of Aemond Targaryen and his dragon Vhagar. As Lucerys died, so too did Rhaenyra’s hope of peace.

Devastated by the loss of her son, the series ends with the promise of a bloody and brutal battle.

What is the plot for House of Dragon, season two?

The trailer opens with Rhaenyra looking defeated and heartbroken as a voice states “Errors were made in the hours following King Visery’s death.”

Banners representing the Targaryen and Hightower march with fields full of soldiers bring the promise of war.

Women, in particular Alicent and Rhaenyra, remain the heart of House of the Dragon as they are reluctant to destroy their family and the kingdom despite the trailer teasing a brutal war.

“There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin,” Rhaenyra said. To which her aunt Rhaenys Targaryen reminds her, “And no war so bloody as a war between dragons.”

How does House of the Dragon end?

Don’t continue reading if you want a spoiler-free House of the Dragon viewing. However, if you’re a Game of Thrones fan, it may have already been spoiled.

Sadistic young monarch, Joffrey spoiled Rhaenyra’s tragic fate while showing his betrothed, Margaery Tyrell, her grave in season three, episode four of Game of Thrones. He gleefully revealed that she was murdered by her brother’s dragon.

“Rhaenrya Targaryen was murdered by her brother or rather his dragon. It ate her while her son watched,” he laughed. “What’s left of her is buried in the crypts right down there.”

Based on the plot of Fire & Blood, the brother Joffrey is referring to is none other than Aegon II, Alicent and Viserys I’s son.

Original cast members of Bewitched are hoping to make an appearance or two in the recently announced reboot https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/bewitched-reboot/ Sun, 31 Mar 2024 19:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=508678 Bewitched is back!

Starring television icons Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York (and later Dick Sargent), Bewitched was as much a staple of afternoon fun as Anzac biscuits and milk for generations of Aussie kids in the 1960s and ’70s.

And now a green light has been given to a big-budget reboot of Bewitched, with former child star Erin Murphy, who played blonde-haired little girl witch Tabitha Stephens, confirming she’s hoping for a part.

Erin was eight when the series ended. (Image: Getty)

“I was flooded with emails this morning. I think the timing is right for this one. Hope it gets made and there’s at least a tiny part for me,” she told fans amid news of the reboot.

There have been several attempts to bring the classic TV favourite back to life over the years following the success of a 2005 Hollywood movie version starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell.

But this proposed reboot is already underway with writer producer Judalina Neira, whose credits include huge TV hits like The Boys and Daisy Jones And The Six.

She has signed on with Sony to produce an “irreverent hourlong reimagination of the classic TV series”.

“The cast was extraordinary,” Elizabeth once said of the show. (Image: Getty)

She’s promising to write and produce a “hooky, character-forward show that will dish up delight with a bite” and the internet is already going wild with suggestions of who could play the memorable characters.

There’s no word yet on who would take on the lead roles of 1960s suburban housewife and secret witch Samantha, who tries not to use her magical powers to keep her mortal advertising executive husband Darrin happy.

But there’s rumoured to be no shortage of big stars lining up to take on the iconic roles made so famous by Elizabeth and Dick in the original series, which ran for eight seasons in the US from 1964 to 1972, and has aired almost nonstop in Australia for five decades.

Certainly Erin, who is now 59, has made no secret of the fact that she would love a chance to rejoin the show that made her one of the most famous toddlers in the world – and had generations of kids trying to twitch their noses and make magic.

“I had a ball! Working on Bewitched was such fun. I was only two when I landed the role. I recall my six years on the show vividly,” she told Woman’s Day in an exclusive interview.

“As it was a supernatural series with witchcraft and magic, it was like Disneyland for a wide-eyed kid like me. I used to get so excited when elephants and monkeys visited the set.”

When the actress posted her plea to be included in the reboot on Facebook, one of her friends, Bob Bergen, chimed in, suggesting Miriam Margolyes as kooky Aunt Clara, Patrick Stewart as Maurice, Helen Mirren as mischief-making mum witch Endora, Molly Shannon as Esmeralda and Tracey Ullman as nosy neighbour Gladys Kravitz, with Steve Carell as her husband Abner.

Now that’s a bewitching cast!

Penny McNamee on her loyalty to Home And Away – and her new career move https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/home-and-away-penny-mcnamee-new-career-family/ Sun, 31 Mar 2024 19:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=508728 ‘I owed it to the fans.'

The post Penny McNamee on her loyalty to Home And Away – and her new career move appeared first on Now To Love.

Penny McNamee spent six years of her life playing Tori Morgan in Home And Away. So when she was asked to return for a very special wedding, she leaped at the chance.

“It had to be something big to pull Tori back, because she was ready to move on from Summer Bay to have this fabulous life in London with her new husband and little girl and a great job,” Penny, 41, tells TV WEEK. “Justin’s wedding is a big enough reason. They have such a close relationship, it made sense she came back for it.”

Penny wrote four episodes of H&A.
(Image: Kristina Soljo)

The actress says the show’s fans, as well as her real-life friendship with James Stewart (who plays Tori’s brother Justin), made her want to return to the Bay after three years away.

“I felt I owed it to the fans, because that wedding would have felt inauthentic if Tori wasn’t there,” Penny explains. “I felt loyalty to Jimmy [James] and to the storylines I played for six years. In the end, it was a no-brainer.”

Despite her years away from the Home And Away set, Penny says it felt like she’d never left.

“I was a bit apprehensive going back,” she admits. “But as soon as I got there, there were a lot of the same crew and cast, so I slotted back in. I sat with the people I usually sat with at lunch and it was like, ‘How are the kids? How are the house renovations?’ It felt familiar and easy.”

Penny says it felt like she’d never left.
(Image: Seven)

Penny and her husband Matt Tooker have two children, and she can remember juggling her role in Home And Away with being a mum. Her son, Jack, was just 10 months old when she joined Home And Away in 2016. Daughter Neve came along in 2019.

“Throughout my entire six years in Home And Away I don’t think I ever got a full night’s sleep,” she recalls with a laugh. “I don’t know how I did it. There was a night when Jack was a baby where I just didn’t sleep. I was breastfeeding, and he was up sick and crying. And the next day I had to do a 12-hour day. But I managed to get through it, and I remembered my lines. From that point on, I thought, ‘Well, that’s the worst that it can be, and I got through it.’”

Life’s easier now that the kids are older and Penny isn’t pulling gruelling 12-hour days on set.

She and husband, Matt have two children.
(Image: Kristina Soljo)

“Jack is nine and Neve five – she’s just learned to ride a bike without training wheels and has taken off her floaties. It means we can go to the beach without all these flotation devices; we can go on family bike rides. We’ve been doing a lot more adventuring together.”

Family is important to Penny, who has four siblings, including fellow actress Jessica McNamee.

“We all see each other a lot,” she says. “We’re married and have kids who kind of cross over in age. Jess moved to LA, but has been back filming the second Mortal Kombat movie, back and forth to Sydney from the Gold Coast, and she stayed with Mum and Dad. We all had Christmas together, so it was really nice.”

In fact, it was spending time with her teenage nieces that prompted a new role for Penny: as an author.

“I was trying to find books on kids being in musicals for my nieces, who love theatre, and they didn’t exist,” Penny recalls. “So I went to [book publishers] Scholastic and said there’s a real gap in the market. And they loved it.”

The first book from Penny’s teen series Stage Stars comes out in July.

“The lead character Millie has ADHD. She talks too much, sings too much – is just ‘too much’ for everyone, and doesn’t find her place in school,” Penny says. “It’s not until she goes to this musical theatre club called Stage Stars, and gets to perform with other kids who are just ‘too much’, that she really finds her place.”

“I’d consider coming back for sure.”
(Image: Kristina Soljo)

Millie’s experience is close to Penny’s heart, and she hopes the character resonates with neurodivergent kids.

“I’ve had some experience with ADHD in our family, and I knew there was an important story there,” she says. “It’s been a joy to write the books.”

Penny’s next role is in the play The Odd Couple, which kicks off in Melbourne in May. She co-stars with Lucy Durack, one of her oldest pals, who she last worked with in the original run of Wicked.

“We’re so excited. The play is an absolute hoot and these characters are pretty ditzy, so we get to act like fun-time girls for a couple of months,” Penny says. “It won’t even feel like work!”

As for Tori, don’t rule out another return to Summer Bay for the fan favourite.

“If I was in my 20s and was going off to Hollywood after Home And Away, maybe I’d say I’m done there now,” Penny says. “But I live in Sydney, I’m doing other acting work here. So if the story calls for it and it’s important to the viewers that Tori be there, I’d consider coming back for sure.”

Home and Away airs weeknights, 7pm, on Channel 7 and 7Plus.

Look back at all of Leah Patterson’s weddings as she prepares for her fourth on Home and Away https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/home-and-away-leah-patterson-weddings/ Tue, 26 Mar 2024 05:01:56 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=508489 Why have one special day when you can have multiple?

The post Look back at all of Leah Patterson’s weddings as she prepares for her fourth on Home and Away appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
When Leah Patterson hitchhiked her way into Summer Bay back in 2000, who knew what a legacy Home and Away character she would become today.

Donned in a wedding dress, we met Leah feeling her first ceremony to escape her overbearing fiancé.

Now with roughly 24 years in town, Leah (Ada Nicodemou) has arguably faced some of the more tragic storylines from being held captive – twice – and many failed relationships.

But there have been some joyous moments for her including welcoming her son VJ, being a surrogate mother for Sally (Kate Ritchie), and walking down the aisle three times.

In early 2024, Leah prepares to wed sweetheart Justin (James Stewart). Could this be the happy ever after she’s been looking for?

Fans are undoubtedly giddy with excitement as they wait for Leah and Justin’s wedding. While we wait, here is a round up of Leah’s weddings – excluding the time she was held captive by a deranged man wanting to marry her.

Continue scrolling to read.

Leah & Vinnie

Young, hopeful and in love. Nothing could put a damper on Leah and Vinnie’s wedding day where they combined their Greek and Scottish heritage for an elaborate church ceremony.

“At the time, I hadn’t been married before and it was the first time I’d put on a veil,” Ada told TV WEEK. “It was lovely – I love a Home and Away wedding.”

Ada and Ryan Kwanten (played Vinnie) played costume director as they selected the wedding outfits themselves.

Unfortunately for Ada, this may have been her downfall as the form-fitting wedding dress left her body all “bruised because it was boned.”

It was in this relationship when Leah welcomed VJ.

Leah & Dan

Fans felt a little divided over this relationship given Dan was the brother to Leah’s ex-partner Peter. Despite this, the pair said ‘I do’ in a beautiful venue after a classic ‘will they? won’t they?’ situation as Leah almost gives in to pre-wedding jitters.

Sadly, their relationship wasn’t any easier. Not long after, Dan moved to America for work with Leah planning to join him later, but all dreams were dashed when he was killed in an abseiling accident.

Leah & Zac

After some failed relationships after Dan, Leah eventually found love in local schoolteacher, Zac. It was a shock to fans when Leah denied his beach proposal. But some swift convincing from VJ made Leah take a leap of faith as she got down on one knee and proposed.

Zac obviously said yes.

Donned in a fitted lace gown, Leah was walked down the aisle by her son. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing – it wouldn’t be Home and Away otherwise. Zac’s disgruntled ex-Charlotte shows up uninvited and was determined to spoil the day.

But nothing could stop the wedding! Eventually their relationship took a sour turn, with Leah breaking off their marriage.

Leah & Justin

Watching Leah and Justin’s romance come into fruition made fans giddy, wondering why they weren’t pinned together earlier.

After what felt like forever, Leah sealed the deal by kissing Justin at the diner of all places.

Together, they have overcome Justin’s painkiller addiction and worked through Leah’s kidnapping trauma. While there were a few bumps in the road, including Leah calling off the wedding completely, they are finally ready to say, ‘I do.’

Neighbours spoilers: Scheming Chelsea goes all out to snare Paul https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/neighbours-chelsea-paul-proposal/ Sun, 24 Mar 2024 19:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=508287 Question time.

When Chelsea feels her romantic connection with Paul under threat, she makes a radical move to tie him down. But will it work or push him further away?

This week in Neighbours, Chelsea (Viva Bianca) is anxious after her jealous actions saw her rival Krista (Majella Davis), who’s pregnant, rushed to hospital after becoming trapped in the stifling Lassiters sauna.

Will Chelsea make a huge mistake?
(Image: Supplied)

Luckily, Paul (Stefan Dennis) found Krista and was able to get her out alive. Now, he’s determined to get to the bottom of how she got there.

“Chelsea is terrified Paul might find her out,” Viva tells TV WEEK. “And she fears that if he does, it will be the end of their relationship. She never intended Krista to suffer as she did, so she feels sick with guilt.”

Paul presses Chelsea to investigate how Krista became trapped, and while she stalls, Paul’s considerate behaviour towards Krista makes his son, Leo (Tim Kano), soften towards his father, who’s often so harsh. And when Paul asks Leo to consider moving back to his penthouse, Chelsea panics.

“Chelsea is terrified.”
(Image: Supplied)

“Chelsea has shown her support for Paul’s good relations with his family,” she says. “But Leo moving back in would radically alter the nest in which Chelsea is currently centrally perched. Would there even be room left in it for her?”

In a desperate last-ditch attempt to mark her territory, she offers Paul something that would radically alter their relationship.

Will she propose? Claim she’s pregnant? Who and what will she destroy to tighten her grip on Paul and ensure she’s his number-one priority?

“Chelsea is a master manipulator and a survivor,” Viva says. “If she can’t distract Paul, she’ll have to come up with a way to scare off the others.”

For Madeleine West, shooting this new Aussie comedy was a “bright spot in the darkness” https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/the-nut-farm-madeleine-west/ Sun, 24 Mar 2024 19:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=508325 ‘It’s close to my heart.'

The post For Madeleine West, shooting this new Aussie comedy was a “bright spot in the darkness” appeared first on Now To Love.

Back in the early 2000s, Madeleine West was sitting in the audience of Arj Barker’s stand-up show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival when he pointed at her. Back then, she was starring in Neighbours as Dee Bliss.

“Part of his schtick was talking about fame,” Madeleine, 43, tells TV WEEK. “Arj pointed to me out in the crowd and said, ‘You – you look like you could be famous. You know, right?’ Everyone in the audience cracked up and he was like, ‘What?’ and someone yelled out, ‘She is famous, you dag!’

We miss Dee Bliss!
(Image: Supplied)

“Arj came out afterwards to apologise and I said, ‘What are you apologising for? You probably got the biggest laugh of the night.’”

Twenty years later, when Madeleine was offered the chance to play the romantic lead opposite Arj in Aussie comedy movie The Nut Farm, she jumped at it. Arj stars as Brendan Brandon, a failed cryptocurrency trader from San Francisco, who inherits a macadamia farm in Australia when his uncle Mitch (Roy Billing) goes missing. Madeleine plays Kim, a single mum who runs a dairy farm nearby.

“Arj has this lovely, endearing energy about him, kind of like a deer in the headlights,” she explains. “I found it really sweet and really cute.”

JJ Pantano, whose stand-up comedy routine on Australia’s Got Talent in 2019 when he was just seven propelled him to fame, plays Kim’s son Carl. Carl is determined to set up Kim, who he describes as “my still-attractive-for-her-age mother”, with Brendan.

“He’s not unlike one of my daughters, who’s very precocious in the same way and often says the most awkward things at the most inopportune moments,” Madeleine, who has six children – Phoenix, Hendrix, Xascha, Xanthe, Xalia and Margaux – with former partner Shannon Bennett, says. “So for me, it was it was just an extension of what happens at home, really.”

One of the movie’s funniest scenes has Kim and Brendan on a date at a Chinese restaurant, accompanied by Carl. There’s not a lot of opportunity for romance, especially when Kim gets into a discussion with Carl about his recent bowel movements.

“Been there, done that, so many times!” Madeleine says with a laugh.

The Nut Farm was filmed near where Madeleine lives in northern New South Wales, and she says its environmental message is “really close to my heart”. As for lugging around bales of hay in her role as a farmer, that came naturally.

“I come from farming country in Victoria, so I’ve grown up around animals, I now work as a reforester in my spare time, and I’m reasonably strong, surprisingly,” she says. “You have to be as you hit your forties.”

Madeleine, who recently helped jail her childhood sexual abuser, has said shooting The Nut Farm was a “bright spot” in the darkness.

“That’s the joy of my craft, that once I’m on set, I’m stepping into someone else’s shoes, and just for that moment I’m JJ’s mum, I’m Arj’s girlfriend, I’m the cattle farmer worrying about whether her cows have an udder infection – all those kinds of things that were such a relief in a time that was particularly dark for me.”

Madeleine in Playing For Keeps.
(Image: Supplied)

Up next, Madeleine will be seen alongside Aaron Eckhart and Rob Kipa-Williams in the US thriller Deep Water. As for Neighbours, she’d be happy to return “if there was an opportunity”. But she has a lot more going on in her life than acting. Among other things, she’s training to be a trauma counsellor, she visits schools and educates kids about online safety, and is working in podcasting.

“But number one, being a good mum,” she adds, “and just continuing to find ways to meaningfully heal from what I’ve gone through in the last couple of years in bringing that particular person to justice.

“I’m really investing in being the happiest version of myself. That’s not necessarily the most successful or most relevant or most popular, it’s just the happiest.”

If you love war dramas then look no further than Australian original series ‘The Narrow Road to the Deep North’ https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/where-to-watch-the-narrow-road-to-the-deep-north/ Fri, 22 Mar 2024 03:00:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=508311 It features a stellar Australian cast.

The post If you love war dramas then look no further than Australian original series ‘The Narrow Road to the Deep North’ appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
The Narrow Road to the Deep North is an epic Australian drama set after World War II, based on Richard Flanagan’s Booker Prize winning novel of the same name.

The television series is an intertwined tale of love, war, resilience and the human spirit, and tells the story of Lieutenant-Colonel Dorrigo Evans and how a brief love affair shaped the rest of his life.

The highly sought-after Jacob Elordi (Priscilla, Euphoria) leads the cast in his first Australian project as Dorrigo Evans.

Meanwhile fellow Australians Odessa Young (Mothering Sunday, Shirley) and Olivia DeJonge (Elvis, The Society) portray his love interests Amy Mulvaney and Ella Evans respectively.

Other well-known actors including Irishman Ciaran Hinds and Aussies Simon Baker, Heather Mitchell, Essie Davis and Thomas Wheatherall are also part of the cast.

The series has been adapted by writer Shaun Grant and is directed by Justin Kurzel.

What is the summary of The Narrow Road to the Deep North?

The powerful story of The Narrow Road to the Deep North is told over multiple time periods, starting from Dorrigo’s childhood.

We journey through his experience as a prisoner-of-war as a young man to his love affair with Amy Mulvaney, and his later life as a respected surgeon and all-round Australian war hero.

Where are they filming the Narrow Road to the Deep North?

The series was filmed in New South Wales, Australia and has recently wrapped production after five months on set.

Is The Narrow Road to the Deep North based on a true story?

The Narrow Road to the Deep North is somewhat based on a true story, however it is classified under the ‘historical fiction’ genre.

This is because author Richard Flanagan has drawn on the experiences of his father along with other Australian prisoners-of-war on the Thai-Burma railway, to create one fictionalised character in Dorrigo Evans, as well as some exaggerated and altered scenarios.

Who is Dorrigo Evans based on?

As aforementioned, Dorrigo Evans is not a real person but rather a character created and inspired by a culmination of people.

Dorrigo is said to be loosely based on Australian war hero Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop, who earned a medical degree and played rugby for Australia prior to World War II.

Where can you watch The Narrow Road to the Deep North?

The series will debut on Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, although a release date hasn’t yet been announced.

Will Poulter steps back in time for the Agatha Christie book-to-series adaptation, Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/where-to-watch-why-didnt-they-ask-evans-australia/ Wed, 20 Mar 2024 04:02:18 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=508113 Say hello to Bobby Jones.

A simple round of golf in the stunning English countryside is interrupted when Bobby discovers the dying man at the bottom of a cliff, uttering the phrase ‘Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?’ which happens to also be the title of Agatha Christie’s mystery novel which has been adapted into a series.

It is the mystery and the question in which Will Poulter – who portrays Bobby Jones – must find the answer to.

Will most recently donned gold outfits for his role in Guardians of the Galaxy and was even thrown into the kitchen for The Bear, but this series sees the British actor jump back in time to the 1940s.

A small town in the English countryside and Wales was frozen in time with Chevy Bel Air cars, high waisted trousers, sweater vests and fedoras. For Will, it was a “special” opportunity to “connect and be embraced” by the Welsh people.

But for the visiting stranger who wanted to book a table, it was a strange sight.

“We had a bloke walk into the pub and he was very confused why he walked into the 1940s. He was wondering why he is booking for 3pm wasn’t on the books, we had to explain we’re a film crew,” Will laughs. “He was very confused.”

The three-part period drama was filmed back in 2021, originally airing on BritBox in 2023, but ‘Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?’ is newly coming to Australia. And Will is hoping we Australian’s will “love” the series as much as they did.

“As actors, it was a really challenging thing to shoot,” he tells TV Week. “We shot this pretty ambitious little three parter in a pretty small window of time. But we had an absolute blast in the process and just really, really loved our time on it.

“It’s a project that is pretty close to all of our hearts. I think particularly Hugh [Laurie].”

Making his directorial debut with ‘Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?’, this project was a “passion” piece for Hugh after reading the 1934 novel as a young man. Given Hugh’s reputation as an impeccable actor, Will admits he was a “little bit nervous about the prospect of acting with him.”

“He’s so down to earth,” he said. “He’s fiercely intelligent, and incredibly funny and passionate – he brought all of that to his work. And his handling as a director of actors was incredible, it’s as if he’s able to articulate what he wants in a language that only you understand. That’s a rare, rare gift.”

“I think [he] did an amazing job of adapting the book and really kind of preserving the best bits of it.”

Fans were shocked when Hayley later announced she was 22 weeks pregnant with Will’s child.

In a statement to News.com.au, she clarified, “I started my relationship with Farmer Will in December before the reunion episode was filmed a few weeks later in January. He told me he wasn’t with Jaimee, and Jaimee was in contact with me before the reunion.”

Soon after her genuinely shocking reveal, Farmer Will responded to the claims with a statement speculating if the baby was his by sharing on Instagram, “If this is in fact my child, I’ll be there whenever the child needs me. Even if, as parents, we can’t be a couple, our family will be filled with love for our child.” On December 7 at 10:03 pm, the blonde beauty gave birth to a sweet girl named Daisy.

”If I’m honest, Tess, I’m in love with you, and I wanna be with you,” Harry told Tess in the finale.

Due to the long distance, Harry has since relocated from his country home to the Gold Coast for a ”cheeky gap year.”

”For him to make that decision and commit to it has been huge,” Tess said.

”I do really love him for being so willing to move for me. I know that Harry’s making compromises for me right now, so I’m more than willing to do that in the future, because I do really love him.”

Will Simpson & Jess Cova

Season Twelve – 2022

After declaring his love for Jess in the finale episode, Farmer Will revealed during the final that he and Jess ”haven’t spent a day apart.”

”Since the final decision, we’ve really ran with it,” he said, revealing that Jess moved to the farm in Berriwillock, Victoria and ”hasn’t left yet.”

”I think our relationship is just blossoming as each day goes by,” Jess said.

Their babies name is Roy Grahame Jones.

David McMahon & Emily

Season Thirteen – 2023

Sparks began to fly early for these love-birds, with David immediately falling for her “funny” and “bubbly energy.” Not long after the finale, Emily relocated to Pozieres to live on the farm.

In October, the pair took to Instagram to share the exciting news that David dropped to one knee and asked the very special question.

“Incredibly proud to announce, this Farmer has found his Wife,” he wrote.

Andrew Coleman & Claire Saunders

Season Thirteen – 2023

The thirteenth season of FWAW was undoubtedly one of the most successful. Andrew and Claire exited the reality dating program early, confident in their love.

“I really didn’t have a clue that was going to happen,” she previously told Woman’s Day of their sudden departure.

“I got to the farm and there was a letter on the bed, and it said, ‘Meet me out the front, we need to talk.’ I thought I was going home, so I didn’t expect that, it was nice.”

It didn’t take long for Claire to pack her bags and relocate to Andrew’s farm in Narromine, NSW. Nearly a year later on March 17, 2024, Andrew dropped to one knee and asked for Claire’s hand in marriage.

Farmer Wants A Wife returns to Channel 7 and 7Plus on April 14. Looking for something to watch before FWAW returns? Check out our TV Guide.
